My Statement

My motivation for taking pictures comes from many sources.  I am often inspired by something I see, and then set out to find a scene that captures the essence of that idea. While I put a lot of thought into the subject itself, I try to be flexible and spontaneous with the actual shot.  I always have an idea on how I would like to take the picture, but I never know if the subject will cooperate.  After determining the “what” and “how” of a shot, I set up my equipment and take several pictures.  Then, I get in my truck; start up the laptop, and insert my memory card to see if the pictures actually came out as well as I’d hoped.  I often go back to sites where I have had luck and try new shots using different angles, lenses or different times of day.

I believe that sometimes it pays not to have a plan when setting out with your camera.  Of course, sometimes it doesn’t turn out as planned, but what is life without trial and error.   I feel that in order to grow as a photographer, you must be open to experimentation.  My advice to other beginner photographers would be to just take out your camera and play around with different ideas.  Every now and then you may stumble across the next great picture without even trying.

I do not own the most sophisticated equipment, but I have a reliable camera, tools, and advice from fellow photographers that all lend a helping hand in my success.  I am continually looking for; ways to improve, new ideas, new software, and new techniques.

I hope you enjoy the pictures I have posted on my website as much as I do. Thank you for taking the time to visit.  Please check back often to view new pictures.
